The original artwork for my Slavic Tarot deck is drawn with copic markers on 12x12 cardstock, with two cards per picture. Drawn by hand with vibrant colors, each piece of art in the deck is rich with the folklore, fairy tales, and mythology of the Ancient Slavs, updated for modern times.

This pairing features the eighth and ninth cards of the Major Arcana: Strength and the Hermit. The Strength card (on the left) is represented by Ilya Muromets, a hero whose adventures did not begin until he was 33 years old. Prior to that, he was paralyzed; only after he was healed by a wandering saint did he become the strongest man alive. The Hermit (on the right) is represented by Koschei the Deathless, who kept his soul--his death--hidden inside a needle, inside an egg, inside a duck, inside a rabbit, locked inside a chest, on a faraway island.
