The original artwork for my Slavic Tarot deck is drawn with copic markers on 12x12 cardstock, with two cards per picture. Drawn by hand with vibrant colors, each piece of art in the deck is rich with the folklore, fairy tales, and mythology of the Ancient Slavs, updated for modern times.

This pairing features the sixteenth and seventeenth cards of the Major Arcana: The Tower and the Star. The Tower card (on the left) is represented by Zmei Gorynch, the terrible three-headed dragon who wrecked havoc in many a folktale; if all three heads were not severed simultaneously, the zmei would not die. The Star  (on the right) is represented by the ever elusive Firebird, a beautiful creature of flame and wonder who drew many a hapless hero under her spell; she guarded a golden egg, and if captured, she never stayed caught for long.
